Mooch the Messy, a new children’s opera

Mooch the Messy, a new children’s opera by Marcus DeLoach, based on the book by Marjorie Weinman Sharmat with illustrations by Ben Shecter, will be given its world premiere in September.

UPDATE: The opera performances will take place at the Arts Center at the Federal Building at 120 Main Street, due to the delayed construction/opening of the new Library. We apologize for any inconvenience. Dates and times of the performances remain the same.

Mooch the Messy is a 30-minute opera tells the story of Mooch the Rat, who learns about neatness and organization when his father comes for a visit. He also learns to be himself. A delightful mix of humor, music, and fun. The opera will feature Keith Jameson as Mooch, Marcus DeLoach as Mooch’s Father, and Lynn Baker on piano. This world premiere production of Mooch the Messy is presented by the Greenwood Music Festival, the Greenwood County Library, and the Friends of the Greenwood County Library, in honor of the Grand Opening of the New Greenwood County Library this fall.
